..who should come to d'n'a?
We accept referrals from young people themselves, from their parents and carers, and in principle from all local services working with children, young people and families in Newcastle.
Who should come to d'n'a?
- Young people who need of support to address their substance use, meaning their use of drugs, alcohol or volatile substances has a negative impact on their lives, e.g. on physical, emotional/mental health, family and social life, education/training/employment, housing, offending..
- Young people who are under the age of 19. In exceptional circumstances we provide support for young people beyond that age (e.g. for care leavers) where this has been agreed with adult services and best meets the young person’s needs.
- Young people who are resident in Newcastle upon Tyne; or living outside of Newcastle and looked after by the local authority.
If you are unsure whether to refer a young person, you can make use of the ‘Drug Use Profile’ screening tool, which can help you identify the level of support appropriate for a young person. The ‘Drug Use Profile’ is available for download, click the link below.
